Climate activists took to the streets of Nairobi to protest against the Africa Climate Summit which kicked off on 4th September 2023 in Nairobi. The activists termed the summit as to have a deeply compromised agenda that only focussed on rich countries’ interests.
The activists called for reforms in the whole process and demanded for decolonisation of Africa’s energy system. They also called for African nations to rise and demand for systems change more than climate change. Protesters held placards that conveyed their demands. One of them read; “Stop the neo-colonial scramble for oil and gas in Africa.”
