A group of environmentalists in Nanyuki were protesting against the pollution of the Nanyuki River. A hotel investor is allegedly draining raw sewer into the Nanyuki River.
The river being a source of water to many residents, its pollution will cause waterborne diseases since many use it as a source of drinking water.
Several protesters were arrested and charged with incitement to violence and resisting arrest.
