On 8th August 2023, a group of activists and civil society organisations took to the streets of Nairobi to continue protesting the high cost of living. The protesters marched peacefully as they presented their petition to President William Auto and his government.
The peaceful protest was disrupted by the police who arrested a total of seven protesters. The protesters were marching peacefully as they held placards which had messages of their concern of high cost of living.
The seven protesters were released on a cash bail of KES. 10,000 each. They were to appear in court on 9th August on a charge of taking part in an unlawful assembly.
