As nation-wide protests against high cost of living ensued, the police continued dispersing protests with tear gas canisters thereby injuring protesters. Several arrests were made across the country while some HRDs were abducted by police and later found, tortured and injured.

In Nairobi, people living in informal settlements were the most vulnerable. In Mathare, six protesters were arrested. This included Victor Juma who was arrested for asking the police why they had teargassed his home with his 2 year old daughter in the house. Several other Mathare residents were injured, this includes 2 month old baby Valentine Wairimu who was affected by the teargas thrown on the roof of their house. She went unconscious and died while receiving first aid at the hospital. Another 13 year old child named Jeremiah Mwengi was shot in the head and died while on his way to hospital. A total of 14 residents were injured by gunshots and/or teargas canisters.

In Kangemi, two people were reportedly injured by gunshot wounds; one in the back the other in the leg. In Kibera, protesters were caught in a violent confrontation with police who threw teargas while some protesters hurled stones at the police. 300 protesters were arrested across the country.
