Police engaged in violent confrontation with the protesters by throwing tear gas to the protesters to disperse them. Several protesters were arrested while others assaulted by police.

Police were witnessed teargassing a kindergarten school while forcefully entering the premises in pursuit of rogue youth who were throwing stones to the police. Children were seen terrified as they screamed and scampered for safety towards their teacher.
