Five men; Alfred Obura, Allan Obonyo, Vincent Onyango, Micheal Ooko and Edward Kasee have been accused of robbery with violence, which is an offence that attracts the death penalty under the Penal Code. The five men have been accused of raiding the Shell Petrol Station along Juja Road in Nairobi during the Azimio protests held on 2nd May 2023.

The accused persons were armed with metal bars when they raided the petrol station. They allegedly robbed the station manager Mr. Nura Wario and stole 12 gas cylinders. The value of the stolen items amounted to KES.53,500. The accused persons were also charged with malicious damaged to property as they had allegedly destroyed glass windows and three fuel pumps amounting to KES.452,000. They also smashed the windscreens of several cars parked at the station. The incident was captured by the security cameras installed at a the station.

The accused persons took a plea of not guilty and were released on a  bail of KES. 400,000 each.
