Nakuru County Police Commander Peter Mwanzo has directed all Sub-County Police Commanders to intensify night patrols at the grassroots in an operation to crackdown on the activities of organised criminal gangs who have been terrorizing Nakuru residents. Mwanzo also directed the Police Commanders and their deputies to be on the forefront by getting involved in night patrols themselves to help combat rising cases of crime in the County. He said by doing so, the senior officers will act as role models to the juniors who will be motivated to do their work well.Noting that the officers in the Sub-counties had the mandate to ensure their territories are safe, Mwanzo voiced the government’s commitment in ensuring that all citizens and their properties are secured.

At the same time, the commander regretted that drug trafficking was increasingly becoming a big challenge to security agents, with those engaging in the activities coming up with new and sophisticated ways of avoiding arrest. He however assured that the security team will not relent in the fight against drugs and substance abuse as well as illicit brews adding that his team was up to the task. He warned the drug barons that their days were numbered and that it was just a matter of time before they came to their dead end.
