This is a story of civic freedom space enhancement accommodated in a public participation forum on education reforms, spear-headed by the presidential education reforms taskforce in Bungoma County, hosted at the St Theresa Sio Secondary School, Bungoma South on 3rd of October 2022.

The forum involved attendance and participation from the taskforce committee leading the Western region, the county government representation, KNUT, KUPPET, KEPSHA, NGAO, County Education Board, Save the Children International, BCCRN, CSO’s representation, faith-based organizations, community leaders, teachers, and learners from both secondary and primary schools.

All the participants were given an opportunity to express and submit their views and issues, with equal share of time allocation adhered to. It was agreed that the Competency-based curriculum in its design and framework was a good and significant initiative, however the issue emanated from its implementation, with recommendations centering around reviewing the strategies employed in implementation.
