Commotion was witnessed at Ndurarua Primary School after police shot in the air and threw tear gas at venders near the school who were protesting the destruction of make-shift kiosks. At least two tear gas canisters went off at the school compound which led to a commotion within the school compound as pupils and teachers scampered for safety. Approximately 35 pupils lost consciousness following the incident. The students were rushed to a nearby Mediheal hospital where three of them were on oxygen.

one of the protesters was also shot and injured during the commotion. The protesters claimed that they were not issued with any notice to vacate the area. The police just ambushed them and started shooting in the air while throwing tear gas at the crowds. The protesters demanded for justice for the destruction and demolition of property as well as the injuries caused due to police activity.
